This Mexican native shrub is a welcome adapted species to our Texas gardens. It will get roughly 4' x4', and bring hummingbirds and butterflies alike to enjoy its nectar from tubular orange flowers that sit atop paddle-shaped leaves with a silver, fuzzy iridescence. Typically evergreen and deer-resistant, this species isn't fussy about soil or sun exposure, though it seems to be happiest in a dappled sun position, or a position where it gets direct sun for a half-day or less. Plant with part-sun lovers like Inland Sea Oats, Bicolor Sage, and Gregg's Mistflower for a dynamic garden scene.
