Criminally-underused small legume tree, native to northen Mexico. Introduced to the Texas trade by legendary plantsman Lynn Lowery in the 1990's. Attains a height of 18' and a similar spread. In spring, the tree unleashes a spray of pinkish-white blooms with an alluring fragrance, often compared to "bakery smells" like cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg. Grows quickly in a sunny spot, and becomes very low-maintenance after its first summer. Cold-hardy to single digits. Like all legumes, this tree is a nitrogen-fixer. Great for a garden that could use a light shade, like one that contains Blood Sage, Ledwort, or other plants that tend to scorch in summer heat.
