Pavonia lasiopetala, Rock Rose

A member of the Mallow family with silvery foliage and blooms of pink that can range from pale to vivid fuschia. A great draw for butterflies, moths and hummingbirds. Not picky about soil, but does best in soil that doesn't remain sodden for extended periods. Cut back 2-3 times per year if you want a fuller, more compact look, or allow to grow to 4' and bloom among grasses and annual wildflowers for a natural look in a sunny area. Treat early at the first sign of powdery mildew, which this plant will get, but only uglifies it temporarily if you'd rather not treat.
