Salvia coccinea, Blood Sage

One of the showiest native Salvias for Central Texas. Blooms prolifically with red tubular clusters that sit well above the foliage. Shear back hard once established to keep plants thick and lush. Does best in a part sun location, but can handle sunnier locations with good garden conditions. Attracts bees, butterflies and hummingbirds and will re-seed over time, though not aggressively. Does beautifully on an edge between shade and sun with other natives like Turk's Cap and American Beautyberry.
