Bauhinia lunarioides, Anacacho Orchid Tree

Small native legume tree that will attain a height of 8-12' with a similar spread. Drought tolerant once established. Beautiful profusions of white to pinkish-white flowers adorn this tree in spring, followed by attractive seedpods. Interesting "ponyfoot" leaves like all Bauhinias. Prefers a well-drained soil, and mulched soil surface. A wonderful understory tree in a diverse garden or landscape, or as a specimen alone.
