Caesalpinnia pulcherrima, Pride of Barbados

Resilient deciduous shrub adorned with audacious, fiery blooms of red, orange and yellow late in summer when little else is in flower. Stems have small prickles. Shrugs off heat after establishment, and is totally self-reliant after the first year in the ground. Give this dazzler a lot of space to spread, as they can get quite large. Trim back to 6" stubs after first frost, and this plant will reliably return with fresh new leaves each spring. Will grow to 8' x 8'.
