Lippia alba, Bushy Lippia

This mid-size member of the Verbena familiy has numersous ecological benefits. It is a food source for bees, hummingbrids and butterflies, a larval host for the Lantana Scrub Hairstreak Butterfly, and also produces seeds for granivorous birds. Beside all that, it is an airy and beautiful perennial, which can reach a height of 6' in one season. This is an excellent plant in a full to part sun location where the colorful pink blooms that mirror each other at every node can "flow" over a rock or edging. Pair with Blue Boneset or another compact native for a contrast and a flurry of wildlife.
