Maclura pomifera, Bois d'Arc

An oddball Texan tree of the Mulberry family with a strange fruit, reminiscent of a yellow-green brain. Little is known about the fruit's dispersal mechanism, as the fruit is not preferred (but not toxic) to animals. Can reach 55' in height, and is very drought tolerant once established. Wood is very hard and resistant to rot.
