Ptelea trifoliata, Wafer Ash

A small understory tree that is a member of the citrus family. All parts of this plant are fragrant. Makes an attractive small tree, or if cut back, a dense shrub. Springtime brings profusions of little white fragrant blossoms that become small disc-like seed capsules. Larval host for Swallowtail Butterflies, as well as a nectar (food) source beloved by various butterflies and bees.
