Robinia pseudoacacia, Black Locust

An under-appreciated legume tree with stunning, fragrant pink to purple blooms that offer wildlife copious nectar. Not particular about soils, but requires full sun. Be careful, as the limbs are armed with sturdy spines! Can grow to over 50'. Like many other legumes, this is a great tree for light shade, under which smaller shrubs and perennials can still receive a full burst of summer light without all of the scorch. Looks pendejo for the first year, then begins to sturdy up into a lovely, towering tree!
