Thelypteris kunthii, Wood Fern

Wood Fern, or River Fern as it is sometimes known, is a native fern that is found only near rivers in the west half of Texas, or in the woods in the east half of Texas. Though its natural distribution is pretty specific, this plant is easy-going, and will do well in normal garden conditions so long as it is hihgly diffused light. Plant to create a woodland effect with Lawn Sedge and Turk's Cap.  Water frequently to establish, then deeply and infrequently with time. Cut back dead frongs in later winter for a fresh, verdany look.
